State police investigating report of rape involving 8-year-old girl

BEAVER SPRINGS — Pennsylvania State Police at Selinsgrove are investigating an alleged report of forcible rape of the opposite sex involving an eight-year-old girl from Beaver Springs, according to a Public Information Release Report issued on Saturday. The incident took place between 7:25 p.m. on July 25, 2024, and 7:25 p.m. on March 25, 2025, the report said. The victim was age 8 at the time of the alleged incident, police said.

Teenager victim of attempted carjacking

SELINSGROVE ­– A unidentified 16-year-old Middleburg male was the victim of an attempted robbery and carjacking at the Target, located at 501 Marketplace Blvd. in Selinsgrove at 2:37 p.m. on July 19, according to a Public Information Release Report issued by Pennsylvania State Police in Selinsgrove on Saturday. Through the state police’s investigation Adam Strouse, 41, of Gettysburg, was identified and charged in the attempted robbery involving a 2104 Black Ford Focus, the police said.

Thompsontown woman reports stolen firearm to state police

THOMPSONTOWN — Pennsylvania State Police at Lewistown are investigating a claim by Clarissa Pyle, 38, of Thompsontown, that a Sturm, Ruger and Co. Inc. Super Blackhawk 44 mag had been stolen from her at 6:49 p.m. on June 28, according to a Public Information Release Report issued on Friday.

Man’s truck scratched multiple times

HONEY GROVE — Collin Miller, of Honey Grove, contacted Pennsylvania State Police at Lewistown about his 2023 silver RAM truck being scratched multiple times at 7:34 p.m. on July 24, according to a Public Information Release Report issued on Friday. The incident, which police are calling criminal mischief, took place at 4521 William Penn Highway in Walker Township, the report said.

Oliver Township man arrested for

warrant then charged with possession

LEWISTOWN — A 44-year-old Oliver Township man was charged with possession of controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia after being detained for three warrants at 1:47 p.m. on July 18, according to a release issued by the Lewistown Police Department on Friday. A department narcotics investigator was patrolling in targeted areas in Lewistown utilizing an undercover vehicle when Jeffery L. Kohler was observed at the rear of 632 E. Walnut St., the report said. Kohler had two felony warrants from the Granville Township Police Department and a Mifflin County warrant for parole violations. Lewistown Police Department officers, assisted by the Mifflin County Regional Police Department, responded, eventually arrested Kohler and discovered he had a glass meth pipe and methamphetamine.

Derry Township man cited for public drunkenness, transported home

LEWISTOWN — Clifford H. Peffer Jr., 80, of Derry Township, was cited for public drunkenness and transported home after Lewistown Police Department officers received a complaint about a male walking on the 500 block of South Main Street yelling for help at 5:20 p.m. on July 18, according to a release issued by the Lewistown Police Department on Friday. Peffer was intoxicated and stumbling around, the report said.

Police investigate theft of bike

LEWISTOWN – Lewistown Police Department officers received a theft report of an 18-inch gray Kent bicycle with red wheels on the 600 block of South Wayne Street in Lewistown at 1:54 p.m. on July 20, according to a release issued on Saturday. The theft was believed to have occurred around 11 p.m. the night prior.

Burnham man charged for a PFA violation

LEWISTOWN – Austin D. Vargas, 30, of Burnham, was arrested and lodged in the Mifflin County Correctional Facility in Lewistown after was charged with a Protection From Abuse order at 1:30 a.m. on July 21, according to a release issued by the Lewistown Police Department on Saturday. Police responded to Pine Court for a report of a prowler tapping on a resident’s window, the release said, and the resident reported that it was a neighbor’s boyfriend. Vargas was located inside a residence in an adjacent building, along with another person who had a PFA order issued by the courts, the report said. The PFA prohibited Vargas from having contact with the subject in the residence, the report said.

Motorcyclist flees from police, flown to Geisinger after crash for serious injuries

LEWISTOWN — A 31-year-old Lewistown man was flown to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville for treatment of serious injuries after fleeing from Lewistown Police Department officers on his motorcycle and getting into crash at 12:04 p.m. on July 21, according to a release issued on Friday. Mason M. Endres fled at a high rate of speed from officers, who were conducting patrols in an area where several drug related incidents have occurred off Logan Street in Lewistown. Eventually, Endres crossed over Third Street where an SUV was pulling out from KFC, the report said, and he collided into the driver side of the SUV exiting the KFC parking lot. The motorcycle sustained significant disabling damage, the report said, and Endres was wearing a helmet. Endres sustained serious injuries and had obvious deformities, the report said, and he was immediately attended to by FAME EMS and several EMTs and paramedics who were in the area, both on duty and off duty, when the crash occurred. The unidentified driver of the SUV had to be extricated by local fire departments, the report said, but was responsive and did not appear to have any serious or life-threatening injuries. The driver of the SUV was transported to the hospital for evaluation, the report said. The registration of the motorcycle that Endres was driving expired in 2022, the report said, and his license was suspended. Endres also had a backpack containing a large quantity of silver coins that scattered onto the ground when he crashed, the report said, and charges will be completed and a warrant will be requested for Endres’ arrest once he is medically cleared. Those charges will include felony fleeing and eluding, the report said.

Warrant issued for Derry Township man

LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers received a request from the Pennsylvania State Police Firearms Division at 3:51 p.m. on July 21 to investigate an attempt to purchase firearms by a prohibited person, according to a release issued on Friday. Jason J. Miller, 46, of Derry Township, attempted to purchase two firearms from a gun shop on the 400 block of West Fourth Street in Lewistown on April 16, 2025, the report said. Miller completed paperwork during the application process, providing false information including answers to his questions about past arrests, periods of incarceration and commitments to mental health institutions, the report said, and Miller also answered a question about not being a fugitive from justice. Miller also had an active warrant from the Osceola County, Fla., Sheriff’s Office for a probation violation relating to a trespass in structure arrest, the report said, and a warrant was requested for Miller’s arrest charging him with materially false written statement- purchase, delivery, transfer of firearm and unsworn falsification to authorities.

Area man cited for defiant trespassing

LEWISTOWN — Victor Mendez-Morales, 40, address unknown, was cited for defiant trespassing and removed from Rec Park in Lewistown at 8:42 a.m. on July 22 after Lewistown Police Department officers received a complaint that he was sleeping behind a bench at the Lewistown Community Center, according to a release issued on Friday. Officers observed Mendez sleeping at the building, the report said, and Mendez was previously banned from the park after two separate incidents where he was caught photographing children in the park.

Lewistown woman charged with two counts of possession relating to drugs

LEWISTOWN — A 42-year-old Lewistown woman was charged with possession of controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia after providing a urine test to Mifflin County Probation which tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine and she was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia at 7 p.m. on July 22, according to a release issued by the Lewistown Police Department on Friday. Officers fielded a report from probation about Fiona M. Closson regarding a violation on the 500 block of Fairview Avenue in Lewistown. Probation went to this residence looking for a wanted person and had contact with Closson, the report said.
