Police: Middleburg cyclist seriously

injured in two-vehicle accident

BEAVERTOWN — Domenic A. Haines, 29, of Middleburg, was struck on his bicycle while traveling along the road shoulder of Paxtonville Road in Beavertown at 7:19 p.m. on July 17, according to a Public Information Release Report issued by Pennsylvania State Police at Lewistown on Friday. The crash occurred when Jayson L. Elliott Jr., 22, of Paxtonville, was driving a 2014 Jeep Cherokee and failed to yield to Haines, the report said. Elliott struck the front area of the bike, the report said, and, after impact, Haines fell to the ground injuring his right shoulder, the release said, and he was transported to Geisinger Medical Center by Beaver Springs Ambulance. Reliance Hose Rescue and Beavertown EMS also assisted state police.

Reedsville woman charged with

possession of controlled substance

BURNHAM — During a routine traffic stop on South Logan Boulevard in Burnham at 9:20 p.m. on July 4, a 56-year-old Burnham woman was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a release issued by the Mifflin County Regional Police Department on Saturday. Officers discovered that Susan Henry officers had a bag containing a small amount of methamphetamine as well as a glass-smoking device commonly used to ingest methamphetamine laying inside of a plastic bag on the passenger seat, the report said.

Yeagertown man flees police during

an attempted wellness check, charged

YEAGERTOWN — Preston McConaughey, 21, of Yeagertown, has been charged with fleeing or attempting to elude police, evading arrest or detention on foot, and resisting arrest after an incident on North Mann Avenue in Yeagertown at 12:26 a.m. on July 5, according to a release issued by the Mifflin County Regional Police Department on Saturday. Initially, officers were dispatched to North Mann Avenue in Yeagertown for a wellness check on McConaughey, the report said. When police arrived, McConaughey was sitting in his vehicle at the rear of the residence and fled at a high rate of speed, the report said. After a high-speed chase towards Reedsville, McConaughey exited his vehicle and ran into a heavily-wooded area, the report said, and was eventually found in a tree. After climbing down from the tree and evading police, he was found walking on North Main Street and showed police that he was carrying a firearm, the report said. Eventually, after a foot pursuit took place, McConaughey no longer had the firearm on him and police tasered him to take him into custody, the report said, and he was lodged in the Mifflin County Correctional Facility in Lewistown.

Newton Hamilton man faces multiple possession charges and speeding

BELLEVILLE — A 20-year-old Newton Hamilton man is facing charges for possession with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and speeding, according to a release issued by the Mifflin County Regional Police Department on Saturday. At 12:54 a.m. on July 8, an officer stopped Nicholas Stone for traveling 57 miles per hour in a 35-mph zone, the report said. The officer detected a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle and observed a green leafy substance on Stone’s lap, the report said, and Stone handed the officer a bag of marijuana and a glass smoking device commonly used to ingest marijuana. Upon searching the rest of the vehicle, several items were located including more bags of marijuana, small baggies commonly used to package marijuana for sale, a scale and several other paraphernalia items, the report said.
