Police investigating Snapchat incident

LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers are investigating an incident involving a male area resident who was “flirting” with another male through phone text messages and Snapchat at 7:06 a.m. on July 6, according to a release issued on Friday. The resident sent the other male nude photographs, the report said, and the other subject threatened to send these photos to family members unless they received $400. The resident paid this unknown person utilizing gift cards and the money was immediately withdrawn from the cards, the report said. Officers are attempting to identify the other party involved, who is not believed to have ties to the area, the report said.

Dog stolen from inside unlocked vehicle

LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers are investigating an incident where a dog was stolen from inside a vehicle on the first block of East Walnut Street in Lewistown at 11:54 a.m. on July 7 as a theft from a motor vehicle, according to a release issued on Friday. An individual parked their vehicle along the street and left their windows cracked and doors unlocked due to having a 12-year-old black and white Jack Russell Terrier dog in the vehicle, the report said, and the victim went to a doctor appointment and, upon returning to the vehicle, the dog was missing from within the vehicle. Police checked several nearby businesses and no surveillance cameras were located that covered this area, the report said, and officers were not notified by anyone regarding the animal being left in the vehicle.

Lewistown man charged with indecent exposure

LEWISTOWN — A 68-year-old Lewistown man was charged with indecent exposure after Lewistown Police Department officers responded to an incident on the first block of Central Avenue for a report at 10:27 p.m. on July 7, according to a release issued on Friday. A resident claimed that David Anthony Stevenson was out on his porch, defecated himself and was not wearing any pants allowing his genitals to be exposed to the public, including juveniles, the report said. Officers spoke with Stevenson, who was sitting on his porch without any pants on, the report said, and he had a shirt or blanket on covering his lower half when officers spoke with him. Stevenson was told to put pants on, the report said. At 10:52 p.m., officers returned to the area because Stevenson was in the street wearing a t-shirt with his genitals exposed, the report said, and officers then located Stevenson who exited his residence upon their arrival wearing pajamas.

Teen cited for retail theft

LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers investigated a report of retail theft at the Nittany MinitMart, located at 403 E. Walnut St. in Lewistown, according to a release issued on Friday. An individual, later identified as Vincent Beneviste, 19, of Lewistown, entered the store and took three cigar wraps without paying for them, the report said. Officers reviewed the surveillance images and identified Beneviste, the report said.
