Kish Road set to be closed for Big Valley Invitational

REEDSVILLE — The Brown Township Board of Supervisors, Monday, approved the closure of Kish Road on Aug. 30 for the Big Valley Invitational.

Each year, the Big Valley Invitational kicks off the upcoming cross country competitive season for high schools of various sizes that qualify in one of the following categories: Class A, Class AA, and Class AAA.

The event is invitation only for girls and boys on both varsity and junior varsity teams to participate in a 5k race.

The day typically begins with a 2.5k for the seventh and eighth grades combined boys and girls race with the top 10 boys and the top 10 girls receiving awards.

Also discussed at the meeting, township secretary, Teresa King received a complaint from a resident regarding stumps on Walnut Street.

In the complaint, it was said that the resident had been “waiting two years” for the stumps to be removed.

Upon further discussion, the board agreed there was nothing that could be done at this time as they are still waiting for grant money to remove the stumps and fill the holes for safety reasons.

“If you take the stumps out now, somebody could fall and hurt themselves,” said King.

In other business, the board:

• Tabled a discussion regarding implementing a fire ordinance upon request from Steve Schaaf;

• Approved the Menno M. and Lydia B. Yoder subdivision plan;

• Approved a utility relocation reimbursement agreement for the T-439 bridge project;

• Approved a resolution for a multimodal transportation fund grant for the T-439 bridge project;

• Approved the matching funds commitment letter for the T-439 bridge project;

• Tabled the discussion regarding the producer of record agreement;

• Approved Armagh Township’s quarterly sewage use billing at 62.2%.

The board will meet again on Aug. 4 for the next regularly scheduled meeting.

Starting at $2.99/week.
