There are two charity rubber duck derby races scheduled this weekend.
There’s nothing quite like cruising on a warm summer’s night, whether it’s at a car show or a memorial ride for charity.
Both events are among the things to do this weekend, so check them out before you head out on the road.
Car Show and Cruise-In in McClure
Sinister Ratrodz presents its Third Annual Car Show and Cruise-In on Saturday, at 80 Armstrong Lane in McClure. Gates open at 8 a.m. and the event runs until 4 p.m. There are various contests throughout the day including a Burn Out Contest and Pin-Up Contest. Custom trophies will be awarded to winners in the car show. Live musical entertainment provided by Fools on Stools and Boom Rockets. Food will also be available. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Paisley Dawn Henry. For more info, call (272) 220-9210.
Ridin’ for Memories

HERITAGE DAYS
Antique tractors are a common sight at Tuscarora Valley Heritage Days, which opens today in East Waterford.
Ridin’ for Memories will be held on Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Registration opens at 10 a.m. at Ollie’s Bargain Outlet, 211 N. Logan Blvd. in Burnham, and kickstands go up at 11:30AM. Organizers are teaming up with Dry Bone Soldier’s for this benefit ride, supporting the Alzheimer’s Association. The ride should be about one hour long, covering about 50 to 60 miles on a route to be determined. The cost is $25 per bike, and $5 per extra rider and $25 per vehicle. There will be a 50/50 drawing and Fan Favorites Award, prizes awarded to the top three winners. These will be cash only buy-ins. The first-place prize is a $100 gift card to JP Cycles.
Fairs and festivals
Tuscarora Valley Heritage Days, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today through Sunday, East Waterford Carnival Grounds, 6351 Route 75 South, East Waterford. Enjoy delicious food, vendors, daily flea market, tractor pulls, daily tractor parade, live music, square dancing, petting zoo, kids games and much more fun.
Celebration Villa Summer Carnival, 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, parking lot, Celebration Villa, 55 Carriage House Lane, Reedsville. Enjoy carnival food, games, raffles, prizes and live music.

Duck derbies
Duck Derby Fundraiser, 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Standing Stone Farm, 1 Losch Lane, Port Royal. You do not need to be present to win, you’ll definitely want to be there for the food, music, games and, of course, the derby. Race starts at 11 a.m. Prizes awarded. Proceeds benefit the ladies on Fire and Ice Inferno to help them purchase uniforms. Call (717) 543-8174 for tickets and information.
Second Annual Duck Derby, noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, Kishacoquillas Park, Lewistown. Proceeds benefit Special Olympics Team Mifflin-Juniata. The event features local first responders, face painting, carnival games, rip tickets, baked goods, deejay and food trucks. Special appearances possibly by Smokey Bear, McGruff the Crime Dog, SpongeBob SquarePants and Quackers. The duck race starts at 3 p.m. For more information or to buy a duck, call (717)250-1116.

Community Swim Night, 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Rec Park pool, Lewistown, hosted by Lewistown Alliance Church. All are invited to swim and eat free food.
Ranger Walk at Greenwood Furnace, 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Greenwood Furnace State Park, Greenwood Road, Huntingdon. Explore the park through the eyes of Ranger Louie. Meet at the park’s beach area for a leisurely nature walk near the lake. Topics will include animals, plants and fungi.
Bat Night at Greenwood Furnace, 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Greenwood Furnace State Park, Greenwood Road, Huntingdon. Join the park staff for an evening of learning about all things bat. The program begins with a presentation at the Blacksmith Shop. Activities include bat box building, games and a bat count. All ages are welcome.
Shade Mountain Gun Bash, noon to 7 p.m. Saturday, Middleburg Carnival Grounds, 196 S. Charles St., Middleburg, presented by the Richfield Sportsman’s Club, Fremont Fire Department and Reliance Hose Co. No. 1. Twenty guns, music, food, Chinese Auction and more. Tickets cost $25.
