Bridge replacement detours begin Tuesday

PORT ROYAL — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced work will begin on Tuesday, July 22, to replace a bridge spanning a tributary of the Juniata River along Route 333 in Turbett Township, Juniata County, approximately 3.5 miles Southeast of Port Royal Borough. This project will improve safety and ride quality for the traveling public and improve the overall condition rating of the bridge.

Detours around the project site will be in place beginning Tuesday. Passenger vehicles will be directed to use routes 3004 (Tuscarora Road) and 3007 (Stouffer Road) for a detour of approximately two miles. Commercial vehicles will follow routes 75 and 3002 (Main Street) for a detour of approximately 10 miles.

Overall work on this project includes replacement of the bridge structure, drainage improvements, paving, installation of guiderail and paint markings, and miscellaneous construction. PennDOT maintenance forces will perform excavation and backfill work, reducing the overall cost of the contract. Mid-State Paving, LLC of Paxtonville, PA is the contractor on this $341,000 project. PennDOT anticipates completion in late August. All work is weather dependent.

Starting at $2.99/week.
