Calendar
The Sentinel offers nonprofit and other community organizations an opportunity to promote upcoming events for free in the community calendar for three days before the event. Events requiring reservations may be promoted for up to two weeks before the reservation deadline.
Events that require a purchase from a for-profit business, even if a donation is made to the organization, are not eligible for the calendar.

• Drive-thru soup sale — pick-up 11 a.m. to noon, Friday, April 25, Pine Glen Church of the Brethren. Ham and bean and chicken noodle. $8 per quart. To order, call (717) 994-1223, (717) 248-3890 or (717) 899-7528. Deadline to order is April 13.
• Free garden to table workshop — 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., April 15, Body and Soul Community Center, Strodes Mills. Workshop highlights planting early spring crops, best practices for transplanting vegetables in the garden, open garden discussions and a transplant sharing time. Bring transplants to share. • Coffee with friends — 9 a.m.- to noon at Lack-Tuscarora EMS, 9320 Route 75 South, East Waterford.
•Community meal — 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Pine Glen Church of the Brethren. Menu: beef stew, biscuits, cole slaw and dessert. Eat-in only. No takeout.
• Bingo — doors open at 5 p.m., Early birds start at 6:30 p.m., Beale Township Fire Co.
•Keystone State Muscle Cars Cruise-In — 5 to 8 p.m., weather-permitting, between Ollie’s and Sheetz in Burnham. All cars, trucks, bikes are welcome. No membership needed. For more information, call (717) 437-6050.
Saturday
•Charity sale indoor market — 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Rec Park Community Building, 108 Montgomery Ave., Lewistown. Priced to sell. Sponsored by St. Vincent DePaul to help those in need.
•Yard sale and bake sale — 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., East Salem Community Church, 7398 Rte. 235, Mifflintown. Park in bottom lot to enter basement. Donation only. No tag prices. All reasonable offers accepted. Proceeds benefit ESCC missions to help local families in need.
•Graceful Soles Shoe Bank — 9 a.m. to noon, Grace United Methodist Church, 101 Logan St., Lewistown. Children up to age 18 are given a free pair of shoes with verification of low income through medical assistance. Parent or guardian must accompany child.
•Easter egg hunt – registration 10:15 a.m., Mountain View Chapel. Open to ages 12 and under. Light lunch for community, plus a craft and face painting. Bring an Easter basket. Rain date is noon Sunday.
•Ham and dandelion supper — 4 p.m., Troxelville community hall, Troxelville. Hosted by Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church. Menu: Fried ham, dandelion greens, oven-browned potatoes, corn, homemade bread and applesauce. Hot lettuce also available. Adults: $13 (includes beverage and dessert, all-you-can-eat), children 6-12: $6, five and under: free. Takeout available. Handicap accessible. Information: messiahbythemountain@gmail.com.
•Ham and dandelion dinner – 4 p.m., Bannerville Fire Co., 7547 Stage Road, McClure. Call (570) 658-6477 for takeout.
•Spaghetti dinner — 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., Spring Run Church of the Brethren, 6712 Ferguson Valley Road, McVeytown. Donations will be accepted. All proceeds will benefit the church’s building fund to help pay off the recent remodeling.
Sunday
•Turkey dinner — 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until sold out, Burnham Lions building, 1st Ave., Burnham. Turkey, filling, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn and green beans. Take-out only. $12 per dinner.
• Captain Jack / Mount Union Area High School get-together — 6 p.m. at Downtown OIP.
