New business opens in Mifflintown

MIFFLINTOWN — Quantum Sports Cards & Gifts officially opened its doors on Friday, March 21 after years of selling items on ebay.

Owner W. La Donna Benner stated in a press release, “We want to be a blessing to our community. We have a significant presence on eBay. With our years of experience online, we want to empower others who may be interested in starting an eBay business.”

Located at 22 North Main Street in Mifflintown, Quantum Sports Cards & Gifts will operate as an eBay sales and order fulfillment center with a retail store front.

This business offers sports/trading cards, beads and handmade jewelry and crafts made by local artists. Additional services include assistance for people who would like to begin a journey of selling their items on ebay.

“We saw a need for jobs that allowed for more flexible schedules and a need for a place to shop locally,” explained Benner. “We (also) provide a space for people to learn how to sell online and start their own eBay business.”

​​Quantum Sports Cards & Gifts is a community-oriented business, evening partnering with local art students from Juniata High School to help design the business logo.

This contest was open to students in Rachel Shepler’s general art classes; 54 students submitted artwork for consideration. From those entries, sophomore Brooklyn Burda’s design was chosen as the company’s official new logo and will proudly represent Quantum Sports Cards.

“Our intention was to have one winner. However, the students created such wonderful designs we couldn’t pick just one,” stated Benner.

Five other students were recognized for their creative efforts, with their designs selected for promotional materials. These artists include freshman Selena Fultz, sophomores Brycen Kenepp, Hope Miller and Tabrin Miller, senior Sebastian Richmond and art teacher, Shepler.

According to a press release, Shepler embraced this opportunity as a “meaningful real-world challenge for her students” and In addition to gaining valuable design experience, the students appreciated the chance to contribute their talents to a local business.
