Mount Union man lodged
in prison on multiple charges
LEWISTOWN — Jeremy Jackson Barben, 42, of Mount Union was lodged in the Mifflin County Correctional Facility in Lewistown on charges of burglary, criminal trespass, drug possession, DUI, resisting arrest, driving under suspension and reckless driving, according to a release issued by the Lewistown Police Department on Friday.
At 11:10 a.m. on Dec. 17, a Lewistown Police Department officer saw Barben driving a vehicle and leaving 403 E. Walnut St., Lewistown, police said.
Knowing Barben’s license was suspended, the officer attempted to stop Barben, who drove into an alley behind the 200 block of Shaw Avenue then fled on foot to Shaw Avenue, the report said.
Barben attempted to force himself into two residences and eventually hid on a porch on Pannebaker Avenue, police said. He was spotted then fled again, failing to obey commands, police said. Barben was then tazed and secured him in a patrol vehicle, the report said. Police said Barben appeared to be under the influence of drugs and was transported back to the station for a drug influence and classification evaluation. Blood was obtained at the station by a law enforcement phlebotomist. Police said that Barben had disposed of some clothing, which was later found by police to contain his photo ID as well as methamphetamine.
Woman arrested for active warrant while camping
LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers were dispatched to Kish Creek where subjects were camping near the mouth of the creek at 1:20 p.m. on
Dec. 17, according to a release issued on Friday. Officers found Kasper Kurtz, 24, of Lewistown, and Kara Kovacic-Moore, 23, of Shippensburg, were burning a campfire, which is in violation of borough ordinances. Officers found Kovacic-Moore was holding a marijuana grinder that had marijuana and she was not authorized to possess it, police said. They stated they were staying in the tent temporarily and they were utilizing the fire to cook food, the report said. Moore had an active bench warrant for failing to appear for a prior drug paraphernalia charge and was arrested on the warrant and charged with possession of marijuana and marijuana paraphernalia. Kurtz was cited for borough ordinances relating to illegal camping and open burning.

trespass incident
LIVERPOOL — Pennsylvania State Police at Lewistown troopers are investigating a confirmed trespassing incident that involved an unidentified 71-year-old male and unidentified 67-year-old female, both of Liverpool at 2:38 p.m. on Nov. 4, according to a Public Information Release Report issued on Friday.
