LEWISTOWN -- Two area hospitals, including Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital and Mount Nittany Health, have earned the top Hospital Safety Grade from the Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit watchdog organization.
Both hospitals received "A" grades for their commitment to patient safety.
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is a nationally recognized measure that assesses hospitals across the country on their performance in preventing medical errors, infections, and other safety issues.
Founded in 2000, the Leapfrog Group is an independent national watchdog organization that assigns an "A," "B," "C," "D" or "F" grade to hospitals across the country based on more than 30 national performance measures reflecting errors, injuries, accidents and infections, as well as systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm.
