Man arrested after wielding knife at employees
From Staff reports
MIFFLINTOWN — A Mifflin man accused of wielding a knife in Tractor Supply, Walker Township, and pointing the weapon at employees was jailed early Wednesday.
Mervin Lynn Peachey, 44, was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Joshua Imes Wednesday on two counts of terroristic threats, two counts of simple assault, two counts of harassment and unlawful possession of wildlife.
According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, Pennsylvania State Police at Lewistown received a complaint from employees at Tractor Supply who said Peachey walked in the store at about 8 a.m. wearing a helmet and waving a knife. The report says that Peachey wanted to purchase a knife and became agitated, pointing the knife directly at employees.
Employees also said Peachey was “talking about killing people and mentioned a recent shooting,” then fled the scene in a red 4-door Ford sedan with a dead deer strapped to the hood.
While canvassing the area, police said they located the vehicle at Rutters and found Peachey inside attempting to purchase a knife.
Peachey is being held in Mifflin County Correctional Facility, unable to post $50,000 bail. He is awaiting a preliminary hearing set for 10:30 a.m. April 11.
