MCALISTERVILLE — A Juniata County resident is charged with attempted homicide and related charges stemming from a shooting incident that took place Friday evening in Fayette Township.

Jeremy Lee Zeigler, 43, of McAlisterville, is accused by Pennsylvania State Police of firing multiple rounds from a handgun that struck a 40-year-old victim.

According to police, the shooting stemmed from a verbal altercation between Zeigler and the victim. The victim was shot in multiple places, police say.

The report states that the victim was transported to Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital and subsequently to Penn State Hershey Medical Center. No further information is available on the victim’s condition.

Zeigler is charged with attempted homicide and aggravated assault, both felonies, two counts of simple assault and one count each of reckless endangerment and propelling a missile into an occupied vehicle.

After being arraigned Saturday in front of Magisterial District Judge Richard C. Gibney, he was placed in Mifflin County Correctional Facility in lieu of $275,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Aug. 17 before Magisterial District Judge Tracy L. Powell.
