Sheetz recognized for workplace culture, satisfaction
ALTOONA — Sheetz has been named to the annual “100 Best Companies to Work For” list for the 11th consecutive year, ranking No. 32 — its highest placement to date.
The list, compiled by Fortune Media and Great Place To Work, recognizes companies with strong workplace culture and employee satisfaction. Sheetz remains the only convenience retailer included on the list for the ninth straight year.
“This recognition reflects the culture our employees have helped build over time,” Sheetz President and CEO Travis Sheetz said in a statement. “Our people are at the heart of what we do in the communities we serve.”
The Altoona-based company recently announced plans to hire more than 1,500 employees during a round of hiring events held at its more than 800 locations across its footprint.
Sheetz also ranked No. 2 on Fortune’s most recent Best Workplaces in Retail list. The company cites benefits including medical and dental coverage, paid parental leave, retirement plans, tuition reimbursement and employee stock ownership, along with flexible scheduling and advancement opportunities.
Michael C. Bush, CEO of Great Place To Work, said employee trust plays a key role in organizational success, while Fortune editor-in-chief Alyson Shontell noted the companies on the list set standards for workplace culture.
The rankings are based on survey responses from more than 1.3 million employees nationwide, along with company-provided data.
