New donut shop opens in Allensville
ALLENSVILLE — The Big Valley just got a bit sweeter with the opening of Allensville Donuts new shop on Cider Press Lane in Allensville.
Owners Ben and Lena Yoder decided to build the new doughnut shop when their business grew too large for their home kitchen to handle.
At the new shop, Lena and her 13 employees make a large variety of glazed, chocolate, blueberry, cream cheese, creme filled, fruit filled and peanut butter filled doughnuts. Some of the filling flavors include, but are not limited to, strawberry, peach, banana, lemon, coffee and Bavarian creme. Various toppings are also available such as glaze, powdered, chocolate, coconut or Oreo.
Allensville Donuts also make doughnut holes, apple fritters and a variety of fry pies. Seasonal items such as pumpkin doughnuts are available in autumn and peppermint doughnuts around the Christmas season.
Ben Yoder said they donít follow a special recipe at Allensville Donuts, they use good ingredients to make fried treats.
Along with their doughnuts, the Yoders have coffee, hot tea and cocoa on the menu. Party trays are also available through special order.
The new shop has a larger kitchen to make their doughnuts and fry pies, and the new physical location allows them to expand their business hours as well.
Allensville Donuts opens at 5 a.m. on Wednesday and 6 a.m. on Saturdays. Each day they remain open until they sell out of doughnuts. Allensville Donuts opens for business on Black Friday and Fastnacht Day. The shop is closed from Christmas through New Yearís Day.
Allensville Donuts accepts cash and checks only. Some seating is available for customers at the shop located at 35 Cider Press Lane, off Water Street in Allensville.
