BELLEVILLE — The Mifflin County Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee and the Young Agriculture Professionals partnered to hold the third annual Farm to Table Gala on Aug. 15 at Brookmere Winery and Vineyard. The goal of the event is to bridge the gap between local farmers and consumers by providing a healthy, nutritious meal almost entirely sourced from local farmers and to provide an opportunity to meet some local farmers. 20th annual Incredible Angel Food Cake contest PORT ROYAL — The Angel Food Cake contest is returning to the competitive exhibit lineup at the 170th Juniata County Fair this year. The Incredible Angel Food Cake contest, sponsored by Pennsylvania Egg Farmers and the Pennsylvania State Association of County Fairs, will be held on Saturday Aug. 31. 4-H poultry donated to Calvary Bible food pantry

REEDSVILLE — After several years of having no live birds at the Mifflin County Youth Fair due to Avian influenza, the Department of Agriculture finally allowed live market birds with the stipulation that these birds would not be sold and had to be slaughtered within 72 hours for safety purposes. UNIVERSITY PARK — A Penn State Extension team won a 2024 Excellence in Teamwork award from the National Association of Community Development Extension Professionals for their project, "Partnering to Create PA Municipal Active Transportation Plans."
