LEWISTOWN -- Some musical partnerships are successful. Others are unforgettable.
For more than a decade, Branden James and James Clark have captivated audiences around the world with soaring vocals, breathtaking cello performances and a chemistry that turns every concert into an experience. Through CelloVoci, the internationally acclaimed artists join forces with powerhouse vocalist Effie Passero to create a concert experience filled with artistry, humor and heart.
Praised by National Public Radio for their "dazzling cello and soaring tenor vocals," Branden & James have built a devoted following by breathing new life into familiar songs. Their performances effortlessly blend classical, pop, Broadway and contemporary influences, creating a sound that is both sophisticated and accessible.
Audiences quickly discover that a CelloVoci performance is much more than a traditional concert.
The evening is filled with breathtaking musicianship, heartfelt storytelling and moments of humor that reveal the genuine friendship at the center of the group’s success. Whether performing a beloved standard, a contemporary hit or one of their original arrangements, James, Clark and Passero create an atmosphere that is as entertaining as it is moving.
Presented by the Mifflin-Juniata Concert Association and Live On Stage, Inc., CelloVoci presents a tour-de-force of epic musical collaborations and lighthearted stories that will make audiences laugh and cry. Their concerts feature jaw-dropping renditions of iconic contemporary and timeless classical songs like “Bésame Mucho,” “The Prayer,” “Hotel California” and more. Whether you’re a lover of classic rock or classical music, this show at Mifflin County High School, 501 Sixth St., Lewistown, on Monday, Oct. 26, at 7 p.m. has something for every musical palate.
Branden James first captured national attention as a finalist on Season 8 of “America’s Got Talent,” but his musical journey began long before television audiences got to know him. A former resident tenor with the Metropolitan Opera, Los Angeles Opera and Lyric Opera of Chicago, James has performed on some of the world’s most prestigious stages, including Lincoln Center and the Hollywood Bowl.
His career has taken him across the globe, including performances for Pope Benedict XVI and the Nelson Mandela family. Beyond the stage, James is also a published author. His memoir, “Lyrics of My Life,” was released by Simon & Schuster and further expanded his connection with audiences through personal stories of perseverance and success.
Alongside him stands Australian-born cellist James Clark, an accomplished musician, arranger and pianist whose talent has earned him opportunities to perform with internationally known artists including Olivia Newton-John, Idina Menzel, Bernadette Peters and Lea Salonga.
Clark’s arrangements have become one of the defining elements of Branden & James’ sound. His ability to transform familiar melodies into fresh musical experiences allows audiences to hear well-known songs in entirely new ways. Rich cello lines weave seamlessly around James’ soaring vocals, creating a sound that feels far larger than two performers on stage.
Adding another dynamic voice to CelloVoci is Passero, who first gained national attention as a semifinalist on American Idol. Since then, she has toured internationally with Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox, earning praise for her powerful vocals and commanding stage presence. Her performances with the globally popular music collective have attracted millions of online views and helped establish her as one of the rising stars in contemporary crossover music.
The story of Branden & James began when Clark was hired as music director for a charity concert featuring James in Southern California. What started as a professional collaboration quickly developed into a lasting musical partnership. Since forming Branden & James in 2015, they have toured extensively throughout the United States and internationally, winning fans with both their artistry and authenticity.
Their recordings have also drawn widespread praise. The duo released the “Hallelujah” EP in 2018, followed by “Chasing Dreams” in 2020 and later a Christmas album that further showcased their versatility and creative approach to arranging music.
What separates CelloVoci from many concert acts is its ability to cross musical boundaries with ease. A classical masterpiece might share the stage with a pop favorite. A Broadway ballad might flow into a contemporary anthem. Through it all, the performers remain committed to creating music that is emotionally honest and deeply engaging.
CelloVoci reflects that philosophy perfectly.
In an era when musical genres increasingly blur together, CelloVoci embraces both tradition and innovation. Combining the acclaimed artistry of Branden & James with Passero’s powerhouse vocals, the group invites audiences on a journey that is elegant, emotional and exhilarating, proving that great music needs no boundaries.
Single tickets for this performance will be available at the door on the night of the performance for $30.
