MCFB to host Measure the Candidates Night To the Editor: The Mifflin County Farm Bureau is hosting our 2023 General Election Measure the Candidates Night on Tuesday Oct. 24, 2023, at the Mifflin County High School at 7 p.m. We have invited 19 candidates to attend. We already know that one has a prior out of state commitment and will not attend. Many of the candidates have not yet responded. Thank you to all for successful Goose Day To the Editor: The Goose Day spirit was alive and well in the Juniata River Valley last week! The Visitors Bureau thanks everyone that participated, attended, and hosted Goose Day festivities. Some of the fun started as early as Sept. 1 when “The List” was published on our website. Thanks to those who helped Adopt-a-Planter To the Editor: The Downtown Lewistown Adopt-a-Planter Program is a coordinated effort to maintain 52 planters along Market Street and in the mall area. As autumn begins and brings the end of our seventh season, I’d like to thank the 28 talented planter sponsors. These lovely individuals, businesses and organizations have thoughtfully considered a design, purchased plants, and fed and watered their planters all summer. Thank you to those who made Day of Caring a success To the Editor: Thank you to everyone that made the 26th Day of Caring a success! United Way of Mifflin-Juniata kicked off the 2024 annual fundraising campaign with the 26th Annual Day of Caring on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2023. Approximately 508 volunteers spent the day painting, landscaping, building and cleaning. This year’s effort helped 43 different non-profit agencies and government entities throughout Mifflin and Juniata Counties save over $60,000!
