Looking for something to do with family and friends this weekend? Whether you want to bring your appetite for a meal and a movie, or head to the great outdoors, or stay indoors, there's something for everyone. Check out these five events around the Juniata Valley:
Michelle's Journey Benefit Bingo
Benefit bingo for Michelle Arnold's Journey will be held on Saturday at the Lewistown Moose Family Center, 80 Brady Lane, Lewistown. Doors open at 10 a.m., with bingo starting at noon. Packages are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. There are 16 regular games and four specials per package ticket. The $600 jackpot game is sold separately. Lots of baskets up for grabs on the Chinese auction. Food available. For tickets, use Facebook Messenger.
Youth Baseball Signups
Play ball! It's that time of year again as Mifflin County Youth Baseball signups are being held at noon Saturday at the Downtown OIP and Grille, 24 E. Market St., Lewistown, and for the next three weekends. Any child in Mifflin County ages 6 to 12 is welcome to sign up. League age is as of May 1, 2024. Signup fee is $75 per player and $25 per additional sibling. Practices start at the end of March or beginning of April, with games to start in mid-April.
Juniata County will have signups from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, for East Juniata signups ages 4 to 16 at East Juniata Elementary School, 54 Main St., Richfield. There will be additional signups on Tuesday at the McAlisterville Community Building, 115 School St., McAlisterville, and Wednesday at the Thompsontown Ambulance Building, 48 E. Main St., Thompsontown. Both of these signups are from 6 to 8 p.m. For Juniata signups, report to the Walker Grange, 611 William Penn Highway, Mexico, on Feb. 8 or Feb. 13 from 6 to 8 p.m. or Feb. 17 from 10 a.m. to noon at Turbett Grange, 12561 Route 333 East, near Port Royal. Annual Sacred Heart Gala
The 14th Annual Sacred Heart Gala -- Diamond Jubilee is slated to be from 5 p.m. to midnight at the Lewistown Country Club, 306 Country Club Road, Lewistown.
Benefit Dinner for Benton Hancock
A benefit dinner for Benton Hancock of Mount Union will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Bello's Family Restaurant, 116 N. Division St., Mount Union. Benton, age 21 and a 2021 graduate of Mount Union Area High School, was diagnosed with melanoma in June 2021 where it was removed. Now, doctors have found a tumor due to a genetic mutation and he is undergoing treatment. Choose from a baked ham or turkey dinner, which will be served with stuffing, noodles, corn, mashed potatoes and gravy. Cost is $12.50. Dine-in or carry out. Pre-orders are appreciated. Free Movie Night
Join the Reedsville United Methodist Church, 82 E. Logan St., Reedsville, from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, for free movie night. Refreshments served. Movie will be "Finding Normal." All are welcome.
