Concert series hosts

2 local music groups

LEWISTOWN — The Saturday Night Concert Series continues at 7 p.m. today at St. Mark Lutheran Church, at the crossroads in Alfarata, approximately seven miles from Lewistown on U.S. Highway 522 North.

The Shade Mountain Bluegrass Gospel Band will perform the first set. After intermission and refreshments, the Nittany Mountain Trail Ride Hayride Band will play the second set, featuring old country, bluegrass and folk classics. First Baptist to honor military veterans

MIFFLINTOWN — First Baptist Church of Juniata County will hold its annual patriotic service at 9:30 a.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be the Rev. David Kuntz, dually-endorsed chaplain by CBAmerica. He ministers at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and is a battalion chaplain in the U.S. Army Reserve in Columbus, Ohio. All veterans will be honored.

Big Valley BIC preps for Fall Renewal meetings

BELLEVILLE — The annual Fall Renewal meetings at Big Valley Brethren in Christ Church will be held Sunday to Wednesday. Sunday service times are 10:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday services are at 7 p.m. daily. This year’s speaker is the Rev. Terry Burton, pastor of New life BIC , Millerstown. Port Royal church to honor veterans Sunday

PORT ROYAL — Port Royal United Methodist Church will honor veterans at its worship service set for 10:45 a.m. Sunday.

View ‘Brother White’ at Reedsville UMC

REEDSVILLE — Reedsville United Methodist Church will host a free movie night, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the church. The movie will be “Brother White,” which is about James White, one of a dozen pastors at a megachurch in southern California. He accepts a position at the impoverished Divine Faith Apostolic Church in Atlanta. He and his new congregation must learn to trust each other and come together to save the church from a corrupt banker anxious to foreclose. Refreshments will be served.

Jeremy Goodling to present fall concert

McALISTERVILLE — Jeremy Goodling Music Ministries will host its annual fall concert at 7 p.m. Sunday, at Bunkertown Church of the Brethren, McAlisterville. Goodling has been singing Christian music for more than 25 years throughout central Pennsylvania. This year, he will be joined on stage by gospel group Mended Heart, of Pine Grove. Service puts spotlight on domestic violence

LEWISTOWN — Local pastors are hosting a service to raise awareness and to support victims of domestic violence at 7 p.m. Sunday, at Highland Park Presbyterian Church, 604 Electric Ave., Lewistown. Heidi Bracken will be the main speaker. She is an inquirer under care of Huntingdon Presbytery and an authorized lay preacher. She is a survivor of child abuse and spousal abuse. She will share her story of hope and journey to wholeness.

The service will incorporate songs and prayers for those who have been affected by domestic violence. Offering collected will be given to the Domestic Violence Abuse Network in Lewistown.

LIFT meets Wednesday at Lost Creek church

OAKLAND MILLS — Ladies in Fellowship Together will meet from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lost Creek Mennonite Church, Oakland Mills. Melanie Stoltzfus, local mother of five, will demonstrate how to bake pies with hands-on instructions and advice. Child care is provided for infants and children younger than 5 years old. Victory Express to sing in Port Royal

PORT ROYAL — Gospel singing group Victory Express will perform at 10 a.m. Nov. 19 at New Beginning Community Church, on the corner of Spruce Hill Road and Route 75, about seven miles south of Port Royal.

East Waterford church hosting dulcimer group

EAST WATERFORD — A hymn sing featuring Strung-Out, a dulcimer group from Juniata County, is set for 2 p.m. Nov. 19 at Upper Tuscarora Presbyterian Church, 589 Brick Church Road, East Waterford. The band is a group of musicians who play dulcimers, guitar, harmonica, autoharp, metallophone, melodica and psaltery. A free-will offering will be collected to benefit the Juniata County Food Pantry.

Krabill to share at Stony Run services

McALISTERVILLE — Gary Krabill will share at 10:15 a.m. and 6 p.m., Nov. 26, at Stony Run Mission.
