Commissioners hold business meeting

MIFFLINTOWN -- During a brief business meeting on Tuesday, the Juniata County Commissioners took the following action:

¯ Ratified a Home Housing Rehab Project check in the amount of $14,900 to Rick Schannauer for a rehab project.

¯ Approved the following 2018 allocation requests for Liquid Fuel Funds: $4,570.14 to Fermanagh Township; $4,125.33 to Monroe Township; and $1,045.95 to Turbett Township.

¯ Re-appointed Harry Leach to a four-year term on the Juniata County Planning Commission.

¯ Approved purchase of service agreements between Juniata County Children and Youth Services and the following: Benjamin Yoffee, Esquire, for agency solicitor services at an hourly rate of $87.55; Chrystal Prosser, Esquire, for agency solicitor services at an hourly rate of $87.55; Chrystal Prosser, Esquire, for guardian ad litem services at an hourly rate of $65; Brittany Shetter, Esquire, for guardian ad litem services at an hourly rate of $65; Jennifer Wilson, Esquire, for guardian ad litem services at an hourly rate of $65; and Martha Bowersox for translation services at an hourly rate of $41.20.

¯ Ratified a Juniata County Hazardous Materials check in the amount of $33.48 to Wex Bank for the purchase of fuel.

¯ Approved the 2018 annual required contribution to the Juniata County Retirement Fund in the amount of $305,670.

¯ Approved and authorized a fiscal year 2019 interest rate of five percent for the employee retirement fund account.

¯ Approved a 1.7 percent cost-of-living increase for retired county employees.

¯ Approved payment of bills in the amount of $70,724.31.
