Catherine E. Gutshall, 69, of Lewistown, was welcomed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, Sept. 25, 2026.
Born on March 9, 1957, in Clinton County, she was the daughter of the late Max Corkins Sr. and Ednalue (Peck) Corkins-Caton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Max Corkins, Jr.
Catherine is survived by her beloved husband, Brian Gutshall, whom she married on Aug. 19, 1995; her daughters, Leah Watson and her husband, Amos, of McAlisterville, Amanda Specht and her husband, Joshua, of Harrisburg, and Randi Torres and her husband, Jose, of Lewistown; her grandchildren, Calob Fisher, Elizabeth Matos, Madison Brensinger, Isaiah Torres, Gabriella Torres, and Landyn Specht; five great-grandchildren; and her brother, Garth Corkins and his wife, Tammy, of Lewistown.
Catherine dedicated many years of her life to caring for others as a medical assistant at Lewistown Hospital. Her greatest passion, however, was her faith and her love for the Lord. She was a devoted and active member of Lewistown Assembly of God Church, where she served faithfully in many capacities, including as a member of the worship team, Sunday school teacher, prayer and share group leader, and children's church teacher. She also faithfully served with Kids for Christ for 15 years.
Catherine's church family held a very special place in her heart. She cherished every opportunity to serve others, encourage those around her, and share the love of Christ. Above all, she had a genuine desire to lead those who were searching toward a saving relationship with her Lord and Savior.
A memorial service celebrating Catherine's life and faith will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2026, at Lewistown Assembly of God Church, 160 Summit Drive, Lewistown, with Pastor Kirk Nagel officiating. A time of visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
In keeping with Catherine's heart and her unwavering faith, she would not want those who loved her to grieve only with sadness, but to rejoice in the assurance that she is now safe and home in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Arrangements have been entrusted to King-Barr Funeral Home, LLC, 120 Logan Street, Lewistown.
