Robert Raymond Cowan Jr.

Robert Raymond Cowan Jr., 93, passed away Friday, March 13, 2026.

Born on Oct. 13, 1932, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Robert R. Cowan Sr. and Margaret L. (Heffner) Cowan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his siblings, Viola Danko, Myron Cowan, Ruth Smith, James Cowan, Maryjane Koontz and Debra Cowan.

He is survived by his loving wife, Iva J. (Milliken) Cowan, whom he married Dec. 20, 1958; children, Diane (Cowan) Ruth and husband, Abe, of Reedsville, Larry R. Cowan and companion, Debra Stauffer, of Centre Hall; grandchildren, Zachary Cowan and wife, Dani, Jessica Specht and husband, Josh; great-grandchildren, Luke Specht, Sophie Specht, and Saylor Cowan.

Robert honorably served his country as a United States Army Reserve Veteran, with service in Korea from 1950 to 1952.

He worked at American Viscose and Standard Steel as a brick layer for 23 1/2 years until his retirement.

Robert had a passion for gardening and enjoyed sharing his knowledge, fruits and vegetables with others.

A graveside service with interment will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Juniata Memorial Park. Chaplain Terry Farr will officiate, and military honors will be provided by the Juniata County Veterans Council.

Arrangements are under the care of Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Robert's memory to: American Heart Association.
