Sin is the
corruption of nature
To the Editor,
Sin is the fault and corruption of the nature of every human being that is the offspring of Adam (Rom.5:12), whereby every individual is separated from God and the original righteousness possessed by Adam and Eve before the fall. This being so their nature is inclined totally to evil (Ps.5:9, 58:3). Sin is doing, saying, or imagining anything that is not in perfect conformity with the mind and law of God (1Jn.3:4). Sin is not only doing what we ought not do but also not doing what we should do (Lu.12:47-48)
We sin because we are born sinner (Ps.51:5; Job14:4). We are estranged and go away astray when we are born (PS.58:3)), and every imagination of the thoughts of our hearts are only evil continually from our youth (Gen.6:5,8:21). We as people have no understanding of who God is because we are of a carnal mind (Rom.8:6-9). We seek not after God (Rom.3:10) because we love darkness rather than light (Jn.3:19) and our hearts are "deceitful above all things, and desparately wicked" (Jer.17:9). As carnal and unsaved people we are lost and our future holds judgement death (Ezek.18:4).
Our only hope is in Jesus Christ who came into this world to save lost sinners (Matt.18:11, 20;28). He lived a perfect life and fulfilled the whole law of God, then He gave Himself to die for the sins of His people, He was buried and resurrected by God and ascended to His Fathers right hand to be a mediator between God and man. And through the work of the Holy Spirit are hearts are changed and we are given faith to trust in Christ for our salvation (Jn.3:5-8; Eph.2:8).

To the Editor:
The 2026 United Way of Mifflin-Juniata Night at the Races on Jan. 25 was held at the Kish Innovation Center in Reedsville. This was the second Night at the Races event for the United Way of Mifflin-Juniata and it was a great success. We want to thank our race caller Jason Christopher through Acclaim Productions, who created a great night of fun as he moved through each of the 11 races. We also thank the Kish Innovation Center for their assistance in making the evening a success.
This event was a fantastic example of the supporting and giving nature of our communities. The United Way of Mifflin-Juniata knows that without the caring power of our community we are not able to empower our 16 partners and 2 initiatives to do the work they do.
