We're through most of the 2025 movie schedule, but you can still check out some promising flicks at the cinema.
Together we'll look at some movies that should be worth a watch before we enter 2026. So in no particular order let's dive in.
Black Phone 2
The trailer for this movie looked strong and this horror picture could be better than the original film which was released in 2022.
Ethan Hawke returns as a ghostly figure for the sequel and Scott Derrickson also returns as the director.
This horror movie's screenwriters are Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill.
Oct. 17 is the scheduled theater release date for Black Phone 2.
Him
This movie looks bizarre, at least what I gathered from the trailer I watched not too long ago.
Him will be in theaters on Sept. 19 and it's directed by Justin Tipping. Jordan Peele is a producer of the film.
Screenwriters include Zack Akers and Skip Bronkie.
Marlon Wayans, Tyriq Withers, Julia Fox, Tim Heidecker and Jim Jefferies will act in the horror movie.
Mortal Kombat II
This video game movie comes out on Oct. 24 and will be directed by Simon McQuoid.
Atomic Monster and New Line Cinema are production companies tied to the film.
Karl Urban plays Johnny Cage and Martyn Ford plays Emperor Shao Kahn.
Mortal Kombat II looks fun and the trailers showcased that.
You can turn your brain off and enjoy a nice bucket of popcorn or Sno-Caps while you take in this new movie in theaters.
Springsteen:
Deliver Me From Nowhere
This biopic hits theaters on Oct. 24 nationwide. The flick is about the life of performer Bruce Springsteen and his 1982 album, "Nebraska".
Jeremy Allen White plays Bruce in the movie. David Krumholtz stars as Al Teller and Paul Walter Hauser plays Mike Batlan. Odessa Young, Marc Maron and Stephen Graham also act in the movie.
Scott Cooper directed and wrote the film. Producers include Sara Bernstein and Jon Levin.
I could have mentioned other films, but we'll stick with this group. This list of movies should bring joy to millions around the country and it gives us a reason to go to the movie theaters this fall. Enjoy the shows.
