On Thursday, Mifflin County’s Carter Smith received Pa. Gatorade Athlete of the Year in track and field.
Smith claimed a pair of gold medals during the PIAA Track and Field Championships in Shippensburg last month.
Last weekend, the junior was the third Pa. runner to win the New Balance Nationals in the last four years.
Smith also was named Pa. Track and Field Coaches Association Cross Country Boys Athlete of the Year in 2024.
