MIDDLEBURG -- Magisterial District Judge Bo Trawitz announced this week that he is running for a full six-year term for the position he currently holds.

Judge Trawitz was appointed last year to fill a vacancy in Magisterial District Court 17-3-04, which covers much of western Snyder County. A Republican, Judge Trawitz is a lifelong resident of Snyder County and active community leader.

"I am honored to serve the people of Snyder County as a magisterial district judge," explained Judge Trawitz. "I am proud of my reputation for being an experienced, trusted and fair judge who is a principled conservative. I look forward to serving another six years if elected."

Gov. Tom Wolf subsequently referred his appointment to the State Senate, where Judge Trawitz received an unanimous, bi-partisan confirmation vote of 50-0.

Judge Trawitz earned his certification through the Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts' Minor Judiciary Education Board, after completing a rigorous training program and examination. Judge Trawitz is a member of the Special Court Judges Association of Pennsylvania and also serves on the Snyder County Criminal Justice Advisory Board.

Prior to his appointment, Judge Trawitz maintained a successful career in the judicial system. In 2004, he was hired as a Juvenile Probation Officer in Mifflin County. In addition, he served as a Community Service and School-Based Probation Officer until 2013. In 2013, he was hired by the Snyder County Probation Department as the Community Service and Work Release Coordinator. In 2017, he was appointed Chief Probation Officer by former President Judge Michael Hudock.

Since graduating from college, Judge Trawitz has been an active and dedicated leader in the community. Judge Trawitz has remained actively involved with youth sports in Snyder County, serving as a coach, board member, president, and volunteer of multiple youth programs. Among these programs are Snyder County Area Little League, Midd-West Elementary Youth Wrestling Association, AYSO Soccer and American Legion Baseball. Judge Trawitz also serves as a member for the Union – Snyder Community Action Agency Tripartite Advisory Board.

Judge Trawitz graduated from West Snyder High School and Slippery Rock University where he served as captain of the varsity baseball team. Judge Trawitz resides in Middleburg with his wife, Courtney, and his two children, Gracie and Max.
