UNIVERSITY PARK -- The Penn State Nittany Lions (1-0, 0-0 B1G) will take a full contingent of wrestlers to the Black Knight Invitational on Sunday, Nov. 23, at Army West Point. The event begins at 10 a.m. and runs all day long. All rankings listed are InterMat/InterMat Tournament Power Index.
The Nittany Lions are coming off a rousing 45-0 shutout win over No. 22 Oklahoma in the Bryce Jordan Center on Friday night, opening up the season with a convincing win. Penn State won all ten bouts, eight of which came with bonus points. The Nittany Lions tallied a pin, five technical falls and two majors.
Sophomore Luke Lilledahl is ranked No. 1 at 125, true freshman Marcus Blaze is No. 14 at 133, junior Aaron Nagao is No. 10 at 141, junior Shayne Van Ness is No. 1 at 149, junior Mitchell Mesenbrink is No. 1 at 165, senior Levi Haines is No. 1 at 174, sophomore Rocco Welsh is No. 4 at 184, sophomore Josh Barr is No. 1 at 197 and redshirt freshman Cole Mirasola is No. 10 at 285.
Possible Penn State competitors (subject to change up to the day of the event) are Lilledahl and Nate Desmond at 125, Blaze and Kyison Garcia at 133, Nagao and Cael Nasdeo at 141, Van Ness, Connor Pierce and possibly Dalton Perry at 149, PJ Duke and Joe Sealey at 157, Mesenbrink and Ty Watson at 165, Haines and William Henckel at 174, Welsh and Asher Cunningham at 184, Connor Mirasola at 197, and Cole Mirasola and Lucas Cochran at 285.
The Nittany Lions will visit Drexel on Friday, Dec. 5, at 7:30 p.m. in their next action. Two days later, Penn State hosts Lehigh on Sunday, Dec. 7, at 1 p.m. in Rec Hall.
