Game Commission
will conduct aerial spraying
HARRISBURG -- The Pennsylvania Game Commission will be conducting aerial spraying operations, to protect wildlife habitat and control spongy moths, on nearly 110,000 acres of state game lands this spring.
Spongy moths (formerly known as gypsy moths), are a destructive, invasive pest that prefer oak trees, which are also the most reliable food source for wildlife.
In areas where spongy moth populations have been rampant, complete defoliation of trees may be observed. Even if trees do survive, their production of acorns may be low for many years afterwards.
Spring gobbler hunters, or other individuals enjoying state game lands this spring, may encounter aircraft spraying forested areas for spongy moths.
Game Commission restructures antlerless deer license process
HARRISBURG -- The Pennsylvania Board of Game Commissioners recently took final action to restructure the state's process for obtaining antlerless deer licenses.
Visit www.pgc.pa.gov and search "antlerless deer licenses" for details.
A new state law, Act 148 of 2022, allows the Pennsylvania Game Commission to modernize and simplify how antlerless deer licenses are sold.
The new antlerless license purchasing process allows hunters to buy 2023-24 antlerless licenses online at www.huntfish.pa.gov, or at any in-store hunting license issuing agent.
Antlerless licenses will go on sale during the first day of license sales, the fourth Monday in June (Monday, June 26, 2023), at 8 a.m. for residents and the second Monday in July (July 10, 2023), for nonresidents.
Resident Antlerless Deer Licenses cost $6.97 and Nonresident Antlerless Deer Licenses cost $26.97.
Hunters: Please ensure your contact information is correct in your online profile, at HuntFishPA. The agency will be mailing all hunting license buyers a postcard with information related to the new process.
