Derry Township fish tournament winners named

LEWISTOWN -- Justin Piffer, Gary Bookwalter, Jim Kitner, Kenneth Carlin and Pat McConaughey all won their respective divisions in the 2017 Derry Township Fire Police fishing tournament.

Piffer won in the Rock Bass division with his 10 1/2-inch fish that and weighed .9 ounces. David Gates finished second with his fish, which was nine inches long and weighed .6 ounces. Ethin Nearhoof was third at 8 3/4 inches and .7 ounces.

Bookwalter had the top Carp at 34 inches and 27.8 ounces. Cody Symmerman came in second at 32 3/4 inches and 27 ounces while Greg Beeter placed third with a fish of 31 1/2 inches and 16.2 ounces.

Kitner's fish of 29 inches and 11 ounces was enough to win the Catfish division over Bryan Edgin, who came in second at 28 1/2 inches and 10.4 ounces. R. Henry's fish came in at 28 1/2 as well, but weighed 10.3 ounces, placing Henry third.

Carlin won the Bass division with his fish at that was 21 3/4 inches long and weighed 5.4 ounces. Clyde Imes finished second at 20 1/4 inches and 2.7 ounces while Jeff Fultz placed third at 20 inches and 3.7 ounces.

Carlin also won in the Muskie event at 41 3/8 inches and 19.6 ounces, the only entry for that species.

Pat McConaughey not only won the Walleye division, but took second place as well. His first fish came in at 27 1/4 inches and 6.8 ounces while his second-place fish was 25 1/2 inches and 5.2 ounces. Stan Gruber finished third at 22 inches and 3.4 ounces.
