Bears snap streak against Utica

UTICA, N.Y. — The Hershey Bears snapped a five-game winless streak against Utica on Saturday night, earning a 4-3 overtime victory in American Hockey League action behind a three-point performance from Ivan Miroshnichenko at Adirondack Bank Center.

The win was Hershey’s first over the Comets since October 2022 and its first in Utica in nearly two years.

Henrik Rybinski opened the scoring in his 200th pro game, but the Comets answered twice to take a 3-2 lead in the second period. Miroshnichenko tied it on a late power play, his seventh goal of the season, sending the game into the intermission knotted at 3-3.

In overtime, Miroshnichenko struck again, burying his first career OT winner at 3:42 to cap his first multi-goal game of the season. Corey Schueneman also scored for Hershey, while Mitch Gibson stopped 30 shots as the Bears were outshot 33-18.

Hershey closed January with a 6-1-4-2 record, its best month by points percentage this season.
