Members of Mifflin County's Sunset Riders 4-H Horse and Pony Club recently traveled to the Pennsylvania 4-H State Horse Show to represent their county and put all of their hard work to the test. They joined 4-H members from across Pennsylvania for a weekend of competition, friendship, and plenty of time in the saddle.

The Sunset Riders had a strong showing throughout the event, bringing home Grand Champion and Reserve Champion titles, several top-ten finishes, and memories and experiences that will last long after the show was over. Our members competed in a variety of events, including English, Western, ranch, driving, miniature horse, and speed classes.

More than just ribbons

Getting to the State Horse Show takes a lot of time, dedication, and hard work. Behind every ride is hours of practice, preparation, and the commitment it takes to keep improving. While the ribbons and placings are exciting, just having the opportunity to compete at the state level is something to be proud of.

There is pride for every member who made the trip and represented Mifflin County. Each rider brought something special to the show, and it was stellar to see their hard work pay off. Whether you came home with a championship, a top-ten placing, or gained experience to build on for next year, you earned your place there.

A special thank you goes to the parents, families, volunteers, and club leaders who spend countless hours supporting these kids. From getting horses ready and hauling to the show, to cheering from the sidelines, these opportunities wouldn't be possible without you.
