Upper Dauphin, Halifax, St. Joseph’s, and Greenwood competed, but didn’t have enough runners to score in the team competition. Juniata junior Josiah Barner won the boys race with a time of 18:32. David Mayall-Marker was second with a time of 18:35. Coy Kerstetter came in shortly after in fourth place with a time of 18:45. Joel Hardin placed seventh with a time of 20:53. Elliott Miller rounded out the scoring for the Indians with a ninth-place finish and time of 21:11.

15th place – John Randolph – 22:28

16th place – Luke Weiand – 22:39

20th place – Nicholi Keiter – 23:18

22nd place – Andy Rutherford – 25:55

“It was awesome to see Josiah take the lead early in the 5k race to win his first TVAA title. He puts in the work and deserves the win. David ran a great race coming away with 2nd overall. Coy also ran great today to finish shortly after Josiah and David. Joel and Elliott secured the team win with their top 10 finishes. I thought Andy Rutherford ran his best race this season today,” Indians coach Jeff Miller said.

The Juniata girls cross country team took wins against Upper Dauphin by having their five runners in the top eight overall.

Newport, Halifax, St. Joseph’s, Susquenita, and Greenwood also competed, but didn’t have five runners to score as a team. Hannah Zeiders placed fifth with a time of 23:58. Juliet Heidenreich was next in 6th place with a time of 24:31. Charlotte Barner rounded out the scoring for the Indians with an 8th place finish with a time of 25:12.

13th place – Darcy Griffiths – 26:51

14th place – Ella Zimmerman – 27:01

17th place – Adi Peck – 28:52

“Like Joisah in the boys race, Carolyn took charge of the race early on and never looked back taking her first TVAA Championship win. She is a very talented athlete who juggles cross country and soccer in the fall. We are very appreciative that she was able to miss most of her soccer game tonight to help the girls cross country team. Hannah Wirt ran another consistent race to just miss 2nd place. She is one of the most consistent freshmen I have worked with. The entire girls team put their heart into this race today and deserve their second straight TVAA team title,” Miller noted.

The TVAA Championship also had a two-mile cross country race for middle school athletes. Juniata’s Evan Yackey took the win with a time of 12:28. Landon Miller was second overall with a time of 12:50 while Mason Hardin was 7th with a time of 17:34.

“Evan, Landon, and Mason ran great today considering I only wanted them to run around 80% to save their energy for a meet at Mifflin County tomorrow,” Miller said.

Unfortunately, with under 30 seconds to go in the first half, Naton for Hershey put in a rebound that we could've attempted to stop by defensive crashing. Danny came out with his feet and made big saves to keep us in it. We kept pressure on them and created some things but were missing the final pass all night. In the second half, they got one from Bunn with 25 to go. A miscommunication between our outside back and keeper allowed Vinson Peters to score the third with 22:44 left.”
