HUNTINGDON — The Juniata women’s soccer team snagged a 1-0 victory over visiting Pitt-Bradford Wednesday evening at Gibbel Stadium.
Jasmine Hechler scored the lone goal of the match, with Sydney Simpson providing the assist. Bailey Gavitt earned the shutout.
The Eagles dominated the first half, holding a 9-1 advantage in shots and earning 10 corners while limiting the visitors to one shot and zero corners.
In the 57th minute, Simpson dribbled past several defenders and into the box. She fired a left-footed shot that the keeper mishandled. Hechler poked the ball through the keeper’s legs and into the net for the game’s only goal.
Juniata managed another eight shots, including Simpson’s blast from just outside the box in the final minutes of the game that narrowly flew over the top left corner of the goal.
The Eagles will travel to take on Wilkes University on Saturday at 4.
