Boys soccer: WolfPack double up Tigers, 2-1

By Kenny Varner 3 min read

BOALSBURG — Rounding out their 2026 regular season, the East Juniata boys soccer team met up with 3-11-1 St. Joseph's Catholic Academy Tuesday afternoon at the Wolfpacks home field in Boalsburg.

St. Joe's held its senior night Tuesday afternoon in front of its home fans.

In the earlier meeting the Tigers won a thrilling 1-0 contest.

In another thriller, the Tigers fell late to the Wolfpack on a goal by Elliot Himes.

“It was a tough game. It’s always tough coming here to this field, but I told the boys, everybody’s playing on the exact same field, so we don’t have any excuses about it," said East Juniata coach Tyler Inch.

“They finished their two chances. And Jonny (Hoffman) made some really great saves on some other ones to keep it at only two. When we finished one, we just couldn’t quite find that second one. Sometimes that’s just how it goes, so it was a tough, hard battle. I appreciate that the boys continued to fight throughout the game.”

The game was a battle from the first possession.

Early on, the WolfPack had early success pushing the ball down into the Tigers side of the field.

However, St. Joseph's ran into a very solid backline of East Juniata.

The WolfPack were able to post the first points of the game when East Juniata was called for a foul inside the box. Owen Badger took the ball on a penalty kick at 26:15.

But the Tigers came right back down the field and was able to get a call on St. Joe's just minutes later.

The Tigers Cruz Martin smashed a shot past WolfPack goalie Charles Ramos to tie the game at 23:10.

From there it was a contest of back-and-forth possessions with neither team being able to add on to the scoreboard.

At the half, both teams had nine shots each, one goal each and a corner each.

East Juniata goalie Jonny Hoffman had six saves while Ramos had five.

In the second half, the game was a back and forth game of mini runs into the others side of the field.

The game was up for grabs as each team went at the backline looking for an opening.

It would be the WolfPack that found just that opportunity when they would hit a shot off the side pole of the goal and into the wide open Heinz. Heinz wasted no time in hitting in the rebound, taking the lead at 2-1.

Despite a valiant effort by East Juniata to try to once again knot the game, all attempts fell just short as St. Joseph's sealed the 2-1 victory.

East Juniata finished their season with a record of 4-13-1.
