Tennis: Carlisle edges Mifflin County, 3-2

LEWISTOWN — Mifflin County girls tennis team squared off against Carlisle where late-match heroics prevailed the Lady Herd to a win on Tuesday, 3-2.

Mifflin County got production across the board despite the loss, Marcella McKee and Delaynie Newlen both were productive with each player earning individual wins over Carlisle.

Huskies coach Meredith Schwenk said, “Today was a challenging match but we are prepared and we know where to improve tomorrow.”

“This is a learning experience but we will find ways to get better and get ready for tomorrow.”

The match would come down to the singles match between Hana Patel and Adina Dedic where Dedic would overcome an early deficit to get past Patel in a match where it was back and fourth.

Both teams despite battling the strong heat were productive in their efforts.

Mifflin County will be back in action on Wednesday to take on Selinsgrove on the road.
