Roundups: Tigers shoot 330 in win against Huskies, Buffs

LEWISTOWN — Mifflin County golf battled East Juniata and Newport on Monday at Lewistown Country Club. However, the Tigers won the match. The Huskies went 1-1 on the day, beating Newport Buffaloes, 331-345, while falling to East Juniata, 330-331.
MC was led by Evan Breon who shot 73, to place first overall. Chase Krepps fired a career-low score of 82, which placed fifth overall. Caleb Bubb chipped in with an 87, and Jude Zook rounded out the scoring with an 89.
Jeraimiah Armstrong shot a 79 for the Tigers and Connor Newton added an 81. Ian Druckenmiller posted an 84, Camden Feltman 86, Quinton Bailey 98 and Eric Nipple 98.
The Huskies are 12-35 on the season. MC begins postseason play on Thursday at Manada golf course for the Mid-Penn qualifier.
GIRLS TENNIS
Colts bulldoze Huskies, 4-1
LEWISTOWN — Cedar Cliff topped Mifflin County on Monday afternoon, 4-1.
In singles action, Keiva Goodling beat Maddy Clinard, 6-0, 6-1. Madelyn Dunkle earned a 6-1, TB 0-7 win over Delaynie Newlen. This matchup included a medical withdrawal. Paige Wehnert defeated Marcella McKee, 6-2, 1-6, 7-5.
In doubles action, Hana Patel and Alexis Allen beat Jiya Patel and Kellen Palisin via forfeit. Sophia Britcher and Adelaide Harkreader beat Khloe Knepp and Brynlee Miller, 6-2, 6-2.
GIRLS SOCCER
Trojans edge Huskies, 1-0
HERSHEY — Mifflin County girls soccer dropped to 0-6-1 after falling to Hershey on Monday, 1-0.
Claire Caples scored a goal at 31:23.
Hershey outshot MC, 17-3.
Taryn Hubler tallied 16 saves for MC and Jane Wrenn posted three for the Trojans.
The JV game ended in a 0-0 tie.
Next, the Huskies host Red Land on Wednesday.
Mustangs shut out Bulldogs, 4-0
JERSEY SHORE — In PHAC action, Midd-West clipped Jersey Shore on Monday, 4-0.
Midd-West scored twice in each half and outshot Shore, 11-4. Midd-West had more corners, 9-1.
Emery Peters scored twice. Ava Aitkins and Bella Knepp (Ava Aitkins assist) scored. Maya Zechman had one assist for Peters.
Addie Maust had four saves for the Mustangs and Shore had seven.
BOYS SOCCER
Juniata blanks St. Joe’s, 6-0
MIFFLINTOWN — Juniata boys soccer beat St. Joe’s on Monday night, 6-0.
First-half goals came from Jackson Shellenberger, assisted by Alex Portzline, at 38:58. At 27:24, Hayden Burd scored on a penalty kick.
Second-half goals came at 28:23, scored by Jackson Shelleberger, assisted by Chase Hartland and at 24:11 Shellenberger scored, assisted by Josue Osorio.
At 22:33, Alex Portzline scored, assisted by Shellenberger and at 17:02, Shellenberger scored and was assisted by Chase Hartland.
Juniata outshot the WolfPack, 21-0. Indians had more corners, 12-1. As for keeper saves, St. Joe’s had 18 and Juniata had zero.
Tigers tie with Indians
MILLERSBURG — East Juniata and Millersburg boys soccer ended in a draw on Monday evening, 4-4.
For the Tigers, Cruz Martin had four goals and Matteo Le Pape added two assists.
Ian Rickenbaugh corralled 10 saves for EJ.
