Roundups: Rollers spoil Indians’ Homecoming night, 41-7

MIFFLINTOWN — Juniata football tried to snap a four-game losing streak on Friday night against Steelton-Highspire. But, the Rollers (3-1) dominated for a 41-7 road win in Week 5 action and spoiled the Indians’ Homecoming night.
Jayden Cleckner ran for a Rollers touchdown with 6:53 in the first period, handing the visitors a 14-0 advantage.
Kalvin Pillier caught a 35-yard TD pass and at halftime, the Rollers led Juniata, 27-0.
In the second period, Silas Hernandez had a 65-yard touchdown catch, making it 35-0 Rollers on top.
Juniata got on the board as quarterback Jaxon Dowling scored on a one-yard run with 1:52 remaining in the ballgame, which reached the mercy rule.
In Week 6, Juniata (0-5) travels to play Halifax. Steel-High hosts Newport on Thursday.

Indians drub Millersburg, 9-0
MIFFLINTOWN — Juniata boys soccer bulldozed Millersburg on Thursday, 9-0.
Jackson Shellenberger, Alex Portzline and Ty Dressler each chalked up a goal on the scoreboard.
In the second half, Hayden Burd scored off a penalty kick. Landon Beward added another goal at 30:15.
Dressler tacked on two more goals. Carter Swab and Dany Lainez each knocked the ball into the cage for a score.

GIRLS SOCCER
Eagles fly by Indians, 7-0
MIFFLINTOWN — Line Mountain defeated Juniata during Thursday’s girls soccer action, 7-0.
Yaa Serwaa tallied 10 saves in the goal for Juniata.
For the Eagles, Jenna Foulds, Mady Grindstaff, Emme Shingara and Reagan Boyer each tallied one goal.
Cora Moyer posted a hat-trick for Line Mountain.
The Eagles corralled six goals in the final half.
VOLLEYBALL
Falcons down Huskies, 3-1
LEWISTOWN — Mifflin County volleyball lost to Lower Dauphin on Thursday evening, 22-25, 23-25, 33-31, 15-25.
Lily Curry dished out 27 assists with Kate Hartzler adding a team-high 18 kills and Grayce Napikoski adding 12.
Defensively, the Huskies were led by Rylie Kahley with 31 digs. Addyson Marks added 18, Napikoski added 14, Curry added 11, and Adisyn Lyles added eight digs.
Leah Hartzler was strong at the net with 13 blocks, while Ella Hartzler added 11, and Kahlen McCracken added six. Addyson Marks and Napikoski each added two aces.
The JV Huskies also fought hard but fell short in three sets (25-19, 17-25, and 12-15). Defensively, the Huskies were led by Briah Moore with 14 digs while Ashland Mazur added two blocks. Sarah Hartsock added 12 assists to go along with her five digs and two aces. Jovi Bush had a team-high six kills and Briah Moore and Mackenzie Resto each tallied two aces.
