MC Babe Ruth 15-16 team being honored

LEWISTOWN — The Mifflin County 15-16-year-old All-Star team that finished second in the country and third in International play this summer is experiencing the joys of winning this fall.

Mifflin County went 10-2 overall this past All-Star season. The team won the Mid-Atlantic Regionals in Williamsport and then moved on to the World Series in Branson, Missouri. Once in Missouri, Mifflin County went 6-1 and lost just one game to Eagle Pass, Texas, 8-7, in the national finals.The team closed out the World Series play with a come from behind, 11-7 win over Europe to finish third in International play.

The team is now being honored by many local organizations.

On Saturday evening (Sept. 5) the Port Royal Speedway will honor the team before its weekly race.

Then on Thursday, Sept. 24, the team will be honored during a Philadelphia Phillies game in a youth day celebration of local teams from Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

The local county commissioners will also honor the team with citations at the Mifflin County Courthouse on Sept. 17.

On Nov. 17, the team will have a banquet in its honor. The banquet will take place at the Reedsville Fire Company.

And one other thing the team did while in Branson was to pick up the league's 500th win on the road as it beat Columbia (the country) 12-1 on Aug. 11.

Members of the team were Landon Pecht, Jett Powell, Luke Shawver, Colton Aumiller, Haven Bridge, Maverick Smith, Max Trawitz, Jude Zook, Caden McClure, Camden Kauffman, Noah Bunch. Kooper Walters and Liam Shaffer. The manager was Denny Yetter and two coaches were Bo Trawitz and Tervis Zook.
