WINGATE -- The Kish Indians Football and Cheer opened a new season in the Central PA Youth Football League on Sunday with a strong showing against Bald Eagle Area and State College.
The Kish White flag football team opened the day with a 24-18 victory over Bald Eagle Area, while the Kish Maroon flag team fell to State College, 18-0.
Kish's Pee Wee team turned in a dominant performance, shutting out Bald Eagle Area, 38-0.
Bennett Harmon led the Kish offense with three rushing touchdowns and added a touchdown pass to Quay Vogt. Mason Haines also found the end zone on a rushing touchdown.
The Kish defense controlled the game throughout, keeping the Bald Eagles off the scoreboard and limiting their offensive production.
The Kish Midget team completed the day with a 28-0 shutout of Bald Eagle Area.
Paxton Snook set the tone by intercepting a pass on Bald Eagle Area's first play from scrimmage. Kish capitalized on its first possession when Easton Trutt connected with Chantz Williams for a 14-yard touchdown and a 6-0 lead.
Knox Wagner added a rushing touchdown two possessions later, with Williams adding the conversion to make it 14-0. Trutt scored on a run in the third quarter before Quentin Rowe broke loose for a 15-yard touchdown run in the fourth. Trutt then found Wagner for the two-point conversion to complete the scoring.
Kish's defense allowed only one first down and 21 total yards in the game. Trutt led the defense with six tackles, while Williams paced the offense with 100 rushing yards.
