MCALISTERVILLE -- Julian Flores de Valgaz reached a century of goals for Juniata Christian School as the Lions defeated East Juniata 5-1 in a non-conference game between the two Juniata County schools on Saturday.
After a scoreless first-half, Flores de Valgaz had a hand in each of Juniata Christian's five second-half goals. The Lions remained undefeated on the season at 9-0. First, he set up teammate Charlie Donovan to give Juniata Christian a 1-0 lead.
The second, which proved to be the game-winner, gave Flores de Valgaz his 100th career goal followed to make the score 2-0. He found the back of the goal again, with Jordan Lara picking up the assist, to increase the margin to 3-0.
The Tigers (0-6-1) managed their only goal when Isaiah Galeas scored to cut the lead to 3-1.
Juniata Christian answered with a pair of goals as Lara converted an assist from Flores de Valgaz. Flores de Valgaz then set the final by netting the hat trick.
The Lions' Connor Leitzel made seven stops in the contest, while East Juniata's Jonny Hoffman finished with nine saves.
Juniata Christian outshot the Tigers 15-10 but trailed 4-3 in corner kicks.
Both clubs return to action today as the Lions head to Belleville Christian, while East Juniata visits Meadowbrook Christian.
