CURVE, Pa. - Connor Oliver, Landon Tomkins, and Mike Walsh spun Altoona's seventh shutout win of the season on Tuesday night at Peoples Natural Gas Field. Altoona took down the Akron RubberDucks, 3-0.
Ivan Brethowr's two-run single in the fourth inning was accounted for the first runs of the day and Lonnie White Jr. added an RBI single in the sixth inning to highlight the night at the plate for Altoona.
Oliver earned the victory with five scoreless innings in the start, earning four strikeouts and scattering five baserunners. Oliver's fourth win in a Curve uniform was one of his smoothest, needing just 67 pitches to work through his outing.
When the bullpen took over in the sixth, Altoona held a 2-0 advantage. Tomkins struck out four over two dominant frames of relief. Walsh wrapped up his fourth save in a Curve uniform with three strikeouts over two innings.
Callan Moss tripled, walked and stole two bases in the win. The Curve picked up five stolen bases on five attempts on Tuesday night with Murf Gray, Titus Dumitru and White Jr. each getting a stolen base. Eight of the nine Curve hitters in the lineup picked up a hit.
Altoona continues the series with Akron on Tuesday night at 6:00 p.m. RHP Dominic Pipkin is slated to start for the Curve with RHP Sean Matson on the mound for the RubberDucks.
