HARRISBURG, Pa. - All but one Curve hitter reached base safely in a 7-3 win for Altoona at Harrisburg on Wednesday night at FNB Field.
After Harrisburg took a 1-0 lead in the first, Altoona responded with a two-run homer from Jesus Castillo in the third and a five-run fourth inning to take a commanding 7-1 lead. In the multi-run frame, Altoona got a pair of RBI doubles in the inning from Lonnie White Jr. and Camden Janik and sent nine men to the plate.
Connor Oliver danced around five hits, two walks and three errors committed in the field behind him to turn in five innings. It was the longest start for Oliver since August 2 (five starts) and his first win since June 30 at Portland. Oliver picked up six strikeouts on 85 pitches, 53 strikes.
The bullpen turned in strong work on Wednesday night, which began with two strong innings of relief from Jarod Bayless. Justin Meis wrapped up the game and combined with Bayless to retire 10 straight hitters to finish the game.
Easton Carmichael led the way with a pair of hits for the Curve his sixth multi-hit game in 28 games with the Curve.
Castillo's home run was his fourth of the season which is a new career-high. Camden Janik doubled and was hit by a pitch in four trips to the plate, he scored two runs.
Altoona continues their series with Harrisburg on Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. Altoona's start is to be announced with LHP Josh Hartle slated to start for Harrisburg.
