The 52nd running of the Big Valley Invitational Cross Country meet will take place at the Indian Valley Elementary Center this Saturday with the race starting at 9 a.m. Junior High runners will start and JV boys run at 9:30, varsity girls at 10, varsity boys at 10:30 and JV girls at 11.
The meet began over 50 years ago by Kish cross country coach Bill Solova and the Rotary Club of Lewistown, which still helps sponsor the race, along with the Juniata Valley Striders Running Club.
This year’s field includes 35 teams and over 200 runners. Some teams are from Mifflin County, Belleville Christian, Juniata, State College and Altoona. Camp Hill is also competing and the team is coached by local running great Mark Haywood.
