Roundups: Huskies battle at Valley Green

Mifflin County golf competed Thursday at Valley Green Golf Club, the home course of Cedar Cliff. MC went 3-3 on the day. MC beat, Milton Hershey, Red Land and Cedar Cliff.

The Huskies lost to Mechanicsburg, Palmyra, and Bishop McDevitt. MC was led on the day by Evan Breon, who fired a 77, which was good for a tie for third place overall. Caleb Bubb, shot a career-low round of 84 to finish in a tie for 18th.

Chase Krepps chipped in with an 87, good for a tie for 24th overall, and Jude Zook shot an 88, which was tied for 28th place.

The Huskies now stand at 7-19 on the season. MC's team score of 336 was a season low, and the lowest by a Mifflin County team over the past two and a half seasons.

The Huskies compete on Tuesday at Lewistown Country Club for a home Mid-Penn Keystone Division match. 

GIRLS TENNIS

Cougars nudge Huskies, 3-2

PALMYRA -- Mifflin County suffered its first defeat of the girls tennis season on Thursday as Palmyra outlasted the Huskies, 3-2.

In singles action, Maddy Clinard beat Palmyra's Anna Rashid, 6-6, (TB 7-3), 6-1. Delaynie Newlen beat Niyanta Patel, 6-0, 6-4. Claire Busher bested Marcella McKee, 6-1, 6-0.

In doubles, Cougars Trini Martinez and Audreij Hamsher beat Hana Patel and Alexis Allen, 6-2, 6-0. Hope Reidhley and Alana Frawley defeated Huskies Khloe Knepp and Layla Breneman, 6-0, 6-2.

Mustangs sink Black Panthers

Midd-West golf was victorious against Milton on Wednesday, 173-185.

For the victors, Brady Gunkle and River Knepp each shot a 42. Gabe Romig posted a 46, Calvin Beaver 44, Cameron Swineford 45, Cole Musser 50.

For Milton, Cole Blackmon shot a 46, Gio Custudio 53, Jordan Sassaman 46, Cooper Waltman 48, Tyler Murray 45, Owen Woolsey 53.
