HUNTINGDON -- With a new fall season on the horizon, Mifflintown native Haley V Mummah is primed to make a strong impact on Juniata College's women's soccer team.

"The main goals for this year are to win more games and make memories with my second and third families (soccer and track & field)," Mummah noted. The Eagles open their season Sept. 1 at Dickinson. Their home opener is Sept. 4 versus Penn St.-Altoona.

The junior defender/midfielder said some of the Eagles' top opponents in the Landmark Conference include Scranton, Lycoming, and Catholic.

Mummah added that the Eagles are working hard to prepare for the 2026 campaign.

"We have been using a lot of drills that help with sticking together and staying in position to help with defense, but also fast reaction on the offensive side to get up the field," the former Juniata Indian said.

"My team has only been together for a few days yet, so I think the best thing to do is get used to how each other plays and feed off of that."

The Eagles are led by eight-year head coach Joseph Alianiello and second-year assistant coach Lydia Hiller.

"Juniata College coaching has taught me many things, but knowing that I have a coach who supports me and fully believes in me has done wonders for setting my limits higher," Mummah explained.

Mummah also discussed the biggest lesson she's obtained at Juniata College.

"My biggest lesson learned at the college level is to be patient and use failures as a learning opportunity," she stated.

With area schools starting classes, Mummah shared some tips for student-athletes looking forward to the college level.

"High school athletes can prepare for college by getting involved with your sport throughout the summer and keeping a healthy mindset. College is as much physical as it is mental," the soccer player said.

Mummah also broke down her position: defender/midfielder.

"Something people can learn from a defender/midfielder position that is commonly not known is when chasing someone down, think of how much field they get to start their sprint, while the defender/midfielder has to turn around and start their sprint at 0% when the opponent is already at 40% speed," the junior highlighted.

Mummah appeared in 10 games during her sophomore season and she started three.

When asked what fans can expect from her and the team (for 2026), Mummah replied, "Greatness."
