Branson, MO -- The Mifflin County Babe Ruth 15-16-year-old All-Stars are going into uncharted

waters.

On Tuesday, Mifflin County beat Columbia (the country), 12-1, in

five innings. The game was stopped after five innings due to

the 10-run rule.

Mifflin County is now 4-0 and will get a day off today. It will start

single elimination play on Thursday. The local All-Stars won

their pool to get a day off.

This will be the first time that a Babe Ruth team from Mifflin County will finish in the top six of

international play. Babe Ruth baseball went to the international

field three years ago.

On Tuesday, the Mifflin County bats finally came alive. Mifflin County had 11 hits, the most since

the second game in the Mid-Atlantic Regional last month.

"We finally hit the ball today," said Denny Yetter, the Mifflin

County manager. "We worked with some of the players before the

game. Max (Trawitz) had a good start for us pitching. We also got Liam (Shaffer) and Jett (Powell)

some time on the mound.”

Mifflin County got off to a slow

start as it didn't score a run in the

first inning.

But, in the second Mifflin County scored twice as Powell

came home on a wild pitch and Jude Zook had an RBI single.

In the third, Mifflin County sent 10 men to the plate and scored six runs.

The two big hits in the inning came from Luke Shawver, a two

run single and Trawitz smashed a bases loaded triple. A key hit in

the inning came from Kooper Walters, who laid down a perfect

bunt to load the bases.

Mifflin County picked up two more runs in the fourth. Haven

Bridge scored on a wild pitch and Shawver scored a run on a fielder's choice.

Mifflin County wrapped up its scoring in the fifth. Landen Pecht

had an RBI base hit and Zook scored on an error.

The Zook run was historic. It was the league’s 9,000. His father, Travis, who is an assistant coach on the team, scored the league's 3,000 run on July 9, 1995, on a wild pitch in Gettysburg. Travis was a 15-year-old.

On Tuesday, Mifflin County got great production from the bottom of its lineup. The local All-Stars got eight hits from six through 10.

Zook and Bridge each had two hits, while Trawitz, Pecht, Caden

McClure and Maverick Smith each had one. Walters had two hits from his leadoff spot.

Trawitz went three innings to get the win. He gave up one run, three hits, struck out one and

walked no one. Shaffer gave up one hit and struck out two. Powell walked one and also struck out

two.

NOTES-Mifflin County committed one error, the first one

in the last three games... Shawver's single in the third was the league's 9,500th hit... On July 24, 1995, Travis Zook had hit number 2,999 as a

15-year-old in Phoenixville.

Starting at /week.
