SHIPPENSBURG -- Saturday was not the opening that two local products had hoped for on the college gridiron.
Cyrell Green (Mifflin County High School/Lewistown) and Jasper Shepps (Juniata High School/Mifflintown), both at Shippensburg University, were on the losing end as Shippensburg lost a 24-16 home opener to Lock Haven.
The Bald Eagles used timely offense, three takeaways and a late defensive stand to secure the win. In his Lock Haven debut, redshirt freshman quarterback Carson Nagle led the Bald Eagles offensively, completing 12 of 22 passes for 123 yards and two touchdowns. Running back Ezequiel Johnson added 71 rushing yards and a touchdown, while Mekhi Watson hauled in five receptions for 70 yards and a score.
Green played in the contest but did not have any statistics.
