Brubaker notches hat trick in Indians’ opener

MIFFLINTOWN - It was nearly a flawless performance to open the new season for the Juniata Indians.
Sylvia Brubaker netted four goals and Sara Montoya added a goal and an assist as the Indians routed Sullivan County 5-1 in non-conference action on Saturday.
Goalkeeper Yaa Serwaa made three saves for Juniata, which led 3-0 at halftime and outshot Sullivan County 9-4 and led 2-0 in corners. Aubryn Diehl also added an assist for Juniata.
Juniata hosts East Juniata today.
Tigers dominate Mount Carmel
COCOLAMUS - Acea Spade scored a hat trick and Aubrie Price added a pair of goals as the East Juniata Tigers picked up an 11-0 victory over Mount Carmel in its opener.
Seven different Tiger players scored in the contest. Price also picked up a pair of assists, while Natalie Fisher, Ella Feltman, Cali Wagner, Aubrey Shearer and Elysia Lopez tallied goals. Feltman also racked up three assists, while Cristal Maldonado added one. Mount Carmel also knocked in an own goal.
The Tigers outshot Mount Carmel 16-3 and 11-0 in corners. East Juniata goalie McKenzie Hart did not make a save.
East Juniata visits Juniata today.

Juniata swept by West Perry
ELLIOTTSBURG -- The Juniata Indians hung tough in the season opener but were swept by host West Perry on Saturday by scores of 25-21, 25-20 and 25-15.
Maddie Copeland led the Indians with six kills, five digs, three aces, 11 assists and five service points, while Destiny Yohn had three kills, six digs, five aces and six service points and Sophia Hostetler added four kills, seven digs, three aces, one block and seven service points.
Jael Supplee turned in four kils, two digs, one ace and one assist, two blocks and six service points, Willow Aurand had 12 digs, one ace, one assist and five service points and Catherine Miller added two kills, four digs, one ace, eight assists, one block and four service points.
Additionally, Sophia Delancey had nine digs and Gabby Reed added two kills.
Juniata visits Midd-West on Tuesday.
