MECHANICSBURG -- During its season opener, Mifflin County held off Mechanicsburg during a girls tennis showcase on Monday afternoon, 3-2.
In singles action, Maddy Clinard beat Wildcat Anna Kriegel, 6-3, 6-2. Delaynie Newlen topped Minseo Lee, 6-1, 6-4. Husky Marcella McKee defeated Lindsay Cameron, 6-3, 2-6, 6-4, as the Huskies swept singles action.
In doubles play, Wildcats Rachel Yeager and Rosslyn Gingrich-Brown toppled Hana Patel and Alexis Allen, 6-1, 6-4. Ava French and Maggie Kiker beat Huskies Khloe Knepp and Brynlee Miller, 6-0, 6-1.
GOLF
Norman hits the links
STATE COLLEGE -- Mifflin County's Emma Norman competed on Monday during girls golf action at Centre Hills Country Club, the home of State College.
Norman shot a score of 110 on a tough course with very strong winds, and thick rough. It was not an easy day to play golf. Her score placed her in a tie for 13th place overall, out of 27 golfers competing.
Norman will be back on Wednesday at Sportsman's Golf Course, the home of Central Dauphin.
Mustangs put away Millionaires
MONTGOMERY -- Midd-West golf took down Williamsport in a match at Vintage at White Deer Golf Club on Monday, 164-185.
For the Mustangs, River Knepp led all scores with a 38. Brady Gunkle shot a 39, Gabe Romig 41, Calvin Beaver 46, Cameron Swineford 49, Rodney Heim 54.
For the Millionaires, Waylon Edler posted a 42, Jaxson March 46, Leo Kinley 53, Michael Hudock 49, Bryton Banks 48, Benner Hudock 50.
