ERIE, Pa. - Four Curve pitchers combined on a one-hitter and Altoona secured a 3-3 week at Erie with a 4-1 win over the SeaWolves.
Dominic Pipkin started a bullpen day for the Curve and tossed two hitless innings to start the day. Josh Loeschorn, who earned his fourth win of the season, followed with three scoreless frames allowing just one hit and one walk with three strikeouts. Jaycob Deese covered the seventh and eighth innings on the mound by retiring all six hitters he faced before handing the ball off to Landon Tomkins for the final two innings. Erie took advantage of a Curve error in the ninth inning to score their only run, but Tomkins struck out Izaac Pacheco with a runner at second to wrap up the win.
In his first at-bat in a Curve uniform, RF Robert Hassell III singled home Keiner Delgado in the top of the first to get the Curve on the board. Later in the first, Will Taylor bunted home a second run with two outs to give Altoona an early 2-0 lead.
Taylor added a sacrifice fly in the third inning as part of a 3-for-4 day at the dish. Delgado added two hits as the Curve picked up nine hits and drew four walks in the victory. Javier Rivas added two hits in the win.
Altoona put a key insurance run on the board in the eighth inning when Delgado was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to force Taylor in from home.
Altoona begin a fresh week of baseball at PNG Field on Tuesday night against the Akron RubberDucks, first pitch is set for 6:00 p.m. Altoona will send RHP Peyton Stumbo to the mound while the RubberDucks are slated to start LHP Rafe Schlesinger.
